Posted on Fri, May 20, 2016

Let’s face it, business has changed. It is harder and more competitive, and will continue to evolve in the years to come. The question for many small and medium business is will they still be around?  More importantly, will they persevere and grow?

Data Cable has had its fair share of challenges since first opening our door in 1980 as a manufacturer of custom cables for connecting mainframes and minicomputers. In order to persevere, and become speed to market experts in the manufacture of interconnecting solutions including custom cable assemblieswire harnessesoverbraidingelectro-mechanical assemblies and complete box builds, we needed a total attitude shift and change in how we made decisions. We needed our employees to lead the decision-making. We needed management to enable.

We have come a long way in 36 years, and we could not be more proud of Data Cable’s history, or the accomplishments, value and success driven by our employees to date.

We were excited and honoured to share our story in the ‘Leaning into Role Reversal‘ profile featured in The Government of Ontario’s 2016 report RETURN ON CULTURE: Winning the battle for talent. This report is part of The Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure’s Leading Growth Firm Series.

We hope in reading this article you will take away the importance of not underestimating the power that employees and company culture have on a business’ success.
